Smart partnership with Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospitals:
The world's largest heart hospital started off with the mission of making sophisticated healthcare available to the masses. The founder, Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, believed that no child should be deprived of the best healthcare despite their parents not being to afford it. That was the basis of establishing Narayana Hrudayalaya. The name Narayana Hrudayalaya means “God's Compassionate Home” in Sanskrit, which embodies the true foundation of the institute. The Narayana Health City believes in ‘Caring with Compassion' as it promises the best healthcare for people from all walks of life, and discriminates none.
Narayana Hrudayalaya is able to provide affordable cardiac care to the masses by building a solid reputation for high quality health services in order to attract paying patients and concurrently focusing on lowering its costs of operation wherever possible so that a larger number of people could afford to seek treatment. This combination provided a surplus from the paying patients from which was used to subsidise the procedures that were performed at or below cost for patients who were not able to afford the full fee.
Narayana Hrudayalaya has also gone one step further by launching the Telemedicine Program, which is a new initiative in association with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and various state Indian governments. Currently there are 42 telemedicine centers all over the world, and Narayana Hrudayalaya has treated over 20,000 patients in clinics in India , Malaysia , Mauritius and Pakistan .

Message from Dr. Devi Shetty
It gives me great pleasure to extend both greetings and congratulations to MediAssist4U (also known as Persatuan Penyaringan Perubatan , Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor) on the occasion of the ceremonies marking its opening as a Medical Screening Association. As a body involved in community health-screening through MediAssist4U, the Association is unique in that it is a non-profit organisation. It is my hope that the Narayana Hrudayalaya partnership will prevail as your country strives toward accomplishing the goals of Vision 2020. I am confident that as we move into the 21st century, the integrated telemedicine and health services offered by MediAssist4U will continue to promote quality healthcare in Malaysia .
Since MediAssist4U's launch in March 2006, Malaysians have successfully undergone open heart surgeries in Narayana Hrudayalaya at a much reduced cost. In living up to the Narayana Hrudayalaya tagline “caring with compassion”, I personally believe that healthcare must be made available to all regardless of the patient's financial status. We are all created by God and He is in control of all the events happening in the world. For though He is not supposed to be seen, heard or felt, He therefore runs His world using people like you and me. And when you do your work without expecting anything in return,be it for personal sense of gratification or bringing happiness to others, that's when you'll realise it is not your hands which do the job – it is the Hands of God.
It is a great privilege for Narayana Hrudayalaya to partner with MediAssist4U who can be assured of the continued support and interest in its programmes and activities. I am pleased to express my sincere appreciation to all those who are associated with the endeavour. I hope that the Malaysian community at large will come forth to join in the good efforts shown by the Association.
God bless.
